Operations

North America's traditional natural gas reserves are in decline and will be unable meet future demand of our nation. However, abundant natural gas supplies are available in unconventional reserves, such as coalbeds, shale deposits, and tight reservoirs and their development will protect and secure our country energy future from complete dependency on foreign imports.

Coalbed methane (CBM) and gas shales are commonly referred to as continuous gas accumulations because they are regionally pervasive, generally not buoyancy-driven, and commonly independent of structural and stratigraphic traps. This provides potentially for very large and productive acreage positions to be developed.

NCE seeks to capitalize on the unique qualities of these unconventional reservoirs. We assemble large strategic acreage positions through leasing and joint ventures that lend themselves to continuous (or “farming”) operations, allowing us to develop shallow, low-cost, low-risk gas reserves.

Innovative drilling techniques are often needed to recover gas efficiently and profitably from these difficult-to-reach reservoirs. NCE is licensing and developing proprietary technologies that enable us not only to recover the maximum available oil and gas from these locations, but also to do so in less time and, of particular importance, with far less environmental disruption than conventional methods. Continuously refining and searching for the most effective and efficient drilling and completion technologies, NCE plans to help lead the energy industry into the next generation of energy technologies to maximize the discovery and production of proven reserves.
